steelrfan85 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I am looking at pre made profiles for DCS. I have the X55 Rhino system. My question is how do the different modes work on the throttle? For instance, I’m going to assume the M1,M2 and M3 are the different modes. I’d have to turn the notch on the bottom to switch but if I switched to a different mode then the previous wouldn’t work until switching back. Can someone help me?
Sandman1330 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Think of it as 3 different profiles. For example, for the Hornet, A10 and most other modules, I have my thumbstick (X56) setup in bands using the Saitek/Logitech software to generate key presses. This allows me to use it as a 5 way hat instead of an axis. However, with the Tomcat, I want it as an axis so I can use it for DLC. I set that to mode 2. Therefore, I can switch between mode 1 for most aircraft, and over to mode 2 for the Tomcat, without going into the software. You could also use it for the same flight - if you wanted your buttons to do different things during different phases of flight, like takeoff/combat/landing, you could set it up that way using the mode switch. steelrfan85 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 I don’t use saitek software. Just program in DCS but if I needed things from mode 1 while I’m in mode 2 that would be confusing.
Sokol1_br Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Saitek soft - or any other keymapper, will not change this, you can use one 'mode" per time. You must choose the functions of each mode well, e.g. one for ground functions, other for flight functions. For momentary only functions use "shift" (momentary modifier) in "pinky" button.
Sandman1330 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 The Saitek / Logitech software is very powerful, it will allow you to do things like turn axis into button presses and the like. Very handy, I highly recommend you give some of those options a shot.
