REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) Owning a T-50 base (Warthog grip) that I am overall very happy with. However, over the last few months, a problem has been building up. After calibrating, using the supplied software, everything checks out. I follow all the steps and the readouts are fine- so is the stick in game. However, what happens is that the stick starts pulling to the left (not the physical stick, but the X-axis). In the beginning, I overcame (Use a little bit of trim, recalibrate- all is good). However, it has gotten worse. Now I need to recalibrate every time is start the computer and after a short while, the stick will start pulling to the left, getting progressively worse. THis is what my NEUTRAL stick position shows after a short session of play (Calibrated and zero'd out just an hour or so before) I am more than a little convinced that this is a hardware issue, and not related to software and calibration, as these work just as adverstised Anyone had similiar problems? I was hoping not having to screw the thing open, but if it comes to that, I have no choice. Help much appreciated. (Posted a ticket to Virpil with the same info as well) Edited March 15, 2019 by zionid
Seb71 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Tighten the bolt with the magnet for the X-axis sensor. Don't overtighten. Check if the ball bearing still rotates smoothly after that.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 Everything appears nice and tight and as it should be. I tightened all screws very slightly (did not use force). Recalibrated- all looked good, but then the same thing. It seems to get worse by the day. I double checked in Windows 10 "Game controllers" that everything was set to "Default", as I have been told that the Windows calibration messes up Virpil product. After a Virpil calibration, loading up DCS, the first move of the stick gives me full axis command. Them after "circling" the stick a couple of times, I am unable to get the axis to move fully RIGHT, while the LEFT one is maxed out with a 50% stick move to the left. The more I move the stick, the more it gets out of calibration.
Silvertree Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I had a similar issue with my Y axis. It was a bad sensor. I would open a ticket with Virpil.
Seb71 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I tightened all screws very slightly (did not use force). Not all screws. The one with the magnet is important.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 I seemed to have fixed the axis issue after doing a firmware update. However- I now have a new problem. The hat-switch on my Warthog is not registering. It is not a hardware issue- because when I press "BUTTON" in the Virpil config tool, the button light up when I move the hat (Buttons 13-16), however, when I have my profile loaded (T-50 + TMV) and press "VPC JOY TESTER", all buttons work, except for the hat... Some people say they have had problems with the latest firmware- but I don't know how to roll back.
Seb71 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Post a screenshot with the buttons tab from VPC Configuration Tool.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 Her you can see the hat-switches activated (4 of them) But here you can see me in the "Joystick tester" window. All the other buttons show, but you can see me pressing a HAT switch to the right (16) without it registering in the JT window.
Seb71 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) The latest software has some issues. For instance, button modes should be Normal, not Inverted. Also, the way you load the profile is different with the new software. Have you followed the new manual? Edited March 15, 2019 by Seb71
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 No will do it tomorrow. Is there any way to roll back? I saw some people in the Virpil forums mention it, but I haven't found out how.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Have read the manual letter for letter now. Still no dice. All buttons are set to ON- so that means that they actually activate when I release them. This causes a number of problems (Push the gun trigger- nothing happens- release it, and it drains the ammo) as well as the non-functioning hat... Getting frustrated (But thanks for the input so far) :D
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Edit- FIXED. By clicking into everyone of the buttons in the buttons page and setting manually to 'NORMAL'- all buttons, including the hat, has resumed normal operations. Thanks for input and advice.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Axis problems continue... I don't know if it is the same for everyone or I have a bust product. I have a T-50 base, working nicely together with a Warthog grip. The software and stick work as advertised, and when calibrated through the Virpil software, it is precise and comfortable. However, the X-axis has a tendency to "drift". Sometimes, it only takes 1 or 2 flights, and I can see that the axis is drifting to the left or right- heavily. The only way to fix this is by recalibrating. This seems to get better/worse randomly, but it is always there, getting worse over time. There seems to be now psyical issues with the stick that I can see, I have checked that all screws are tight, magnets are in place etc. Everything seems fine. This problem has been here from Day 1, but I have grown sick and tired of the constant calibrating sessions.
