steelrfan85 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 How do I read the airspeed indicator. I see the knots in 10 intervals but it soon spins around into the mach section so I don't know how fast I am going unless I look at the display at the bottom showing Ground Speed and Air Speed. I can't land well because I don't know my speed. I also have tried making turns and seem to throw her into a flatspin that I can't recover. The aircraft shakes.
valrond Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Agreed. This airspeed indicator is confusing as hell. I don't have a problem landing in airfields, but with carriers, I don't know my speed, and in this case it is critical to do it by the book and with the exact correct speed.
Mud Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 The outer ring shows your IAS up to 200 knots, then it shows the mach number. But you can still see your IAS in knots on the inner ring then. macidcrook Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Ya you have to pay attention to the inner ring. you kind of get used to where its pointing and a general speed you are going. i have to look closely to see the exact number but once you get an idea where the needle is, its just a quick glance.
