xaoslaad Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I am finding both of these retracting during landing on their own. Is there some condition under which this is supposed to happen? I find it to really be screwing with trying to maintain AoA as just re enabling DLC causes quite a change in pitch, I checked my controls I and I don't have anything extra mapped to control these and I'm too busy trying to control the axes to really be mashing buttons anyway. If you tell me I'm going to slow or pitching too much or almost anything I'd believe it. I'm not very steady as it is, but I can't find an explanation for this behavior anywhere and it is without a doubt not helping the situation.
jet_lag87 Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 The DLC will disengage when you go into mil power. Pretty sure the speed brakes do the same. Jet
VampireNZ Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) Yep both get stowed for Bolters. Just a bit too much throttle correction on approach. If you are sinking a lot remember you have the DLC down option open to you. Keep an eye on the AOA indexer tape to the left of the ACM panel and anticipate your AOA if you are finding you are mushing. xaoslaad Posted March 18, 2019 Author Posted March 18, 2019 Thank you both, I couldn't find the pattern or an explanation (I'm sure it's in there somewhere, just no the way I was searching no doubt). I appreciate it. I'll work on using DLC rather than over correcting with throttle. Appreciate it!

Don't overuse the DLC - just use it to catch a drop that would otherwise mean too much power to catch and subsequently losing your SB/DLC as you describe. Smoother power use...! Vampire
xaoslaad Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 Huge thanks. Still a little rough but more traps than misses. This is a much better way to fly. I just need to refine my process a bit. Thanks for Victory's doc too. I read through it, also a big help!

xaoslaad Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 Retracts at full mil if it's for the sake of bolters, right? You're not supposed to use AB when trapping.
VampireNZ Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Retracts at full mil if it's for the sake of bolters, right? You're not supposed to use AB when trapping. With the throttle at MIL, speedbrakes and DLC retract. You must hold the throttle at MIL for at least 3 seconds to ensure SB fully retracts, if you move it sooner it may only partially retract (IRL). It is suggested you just go full AB for a sec or two in the sim to ensure both disengage as there is no AB detent then move back to MIL as the engine is too slow to spoool up and engage AB. Vampire
