I would like to add clickable buttons around the MFD that is mapped to my second screen (which happens to be a touch screen, but that is immaterial to my question.) I am not looking to map any other instruments or anything weird.

I know how to do this with Helios, basically running a very simple config on a very powerful tool. I wonder if there is a simpler way to do this?

Is there a native way in DCS yet to define a "button" in a view port?

Are you aware of any simple software that allows me to define clickable areas on a screen and assign a key stroke to send? Basically it would just act as a HID that sends keys when you click various parts of the screen, as a driver.

In my experiences, Helios is the simplest tool to do that. Just copy any componenets you want from the profile, and paste them to the proper place. That’s it.

DCS viewport won’t support any ‘button’ function, since it’s only for the displays literally.

I can't speak for "simple" but there is an alternative you can look at. In the Home Cockpits subthread below. It does displays and switches/buttons.

Simpit Software from SDA

Thanks for all your help. I was trying to avoid it, but learning and playing with Helios was the right choice. I decided to create my own F/A-18 profile in Helios, putting just the things that I want on the screen (not running the whole cockpit from Capt Zeen.) It is actually super easy and fun.

How did you go about this? Do you have touchscreen clickable buttons? I find myself fighting to find out how to get this accomplished with 3 flying screens and one touchscreen below in a "T" position (total 4 monitors). Helios youtube instructions have spanish explorer references which makes it hard to follow... so for example, the file Captain Zeen modifies is in his F18 folder on his desktop then suddenly gets to the proper folder over in DCS with a special utility but I can't see if it puts it in the monitorsetup folder as 2 monitor setup and if there are additional lua files that have to be modified for all the instruments to be customized as far as locations, etc. Im trying to do the F16. This is a project.

So this is funny you brought this thread up. So that was my introduction to Helios last year?

Now I am the currently primary coder on the Helios project. :)

There are a lot of helpful folks hanging out on the Capt Zeen discord, and that's where we discuss and help people get stuff done. https://discord.gg/KHmkTXe
