I'm not sure but I can't help but get the feeling that the DLC in the activated neutral position is causing a very large drop in decent rate compared to when DLC is off... I was wondering if this was accurate or still requires some tweaking still???

Turning ON the DLC is like engaging a "half"-speedbrake/flaps and trimming for it. That way you either gain, or loose altitude, by retracting or extracting both ways. If there was no loss of lift, when engaging the system, there wouldn't be any overhead to gain either; no speedbrake to retract.

That's how I understand it. Might be wrong.

DLC results in a six knot increase in approach speed at 15 units AOA. You are increasing that amount of energy to offset the loss of lift of the spoilers in the neutral position.

You will get a mild pitch down with DLC engagement requiring re-trimming.

So the way to adjust for engagement of DLC is to add power a bit and add nose up trim to get back to onspeed AOA after activation of DLC?

Where exactly in the case 1 pattern are you supposed to activate DLC? I was doing it on the downwind leg after roll out from the overhead break and fighting to trim to onspeed, but I haven't had much practice with it yet either.
