This is getting tiresome.

When trying to update from 2.5.4.28461 openbeta to 2.5.4.29004 openbeta (today's one), the updater download progress gets stuck.

1 - Only "tweaking" I had previously in DCS was;

- removing the modules icons which I do not have, from the bottom of the screen;

- added my own F-14 wallpaper.

2 - Because of the above already run a REPAIR twice, but no solution - the update gets stuck like in image below.

3 - (just remembered - also installed a new GPU on my system.)

Any ideia of what it might be ?

Thank you.

Hi TJ, did you find a solution ? i have same problem.

Thanks.

Yes I did - completely uninstalled DCS World.

But I really hope ED / DCS devs start sorting all this "complications" in a nearby future.

As I'm really starting to get demotivated from the SEVERAL bothers implied to get this sim in working order :

1 - payment issues (not from my part), before being allowed to download F-14 module, weeks ago ;

(always paid exactly the same way as before, with PayPal)

2 - yesterday, impossible to update from openbeta 2.5.4.28461 to 2.5.4.29004 - had to uninstall DCS ;

3 - overnight 6.5 hours duration download for me ;

4 - relativelly complex process to get your screen resolution right again ;

(do it wrong and you won't see the OK button at DCS Options Menu... Alt Enter / Ctrl Alt Del don't work in my DCS)

5 - I'm defragmenting my HDD before installing the F-14 and other modules ;

...and now I'm reading posts left and right, that this update 2.5.4.29004 (which was supposed to fix the bugs), seems to be itself even more buggier and problematic ???

Do not intend to rant here - just being frankly honest.

If ED / DCS devs ever solve these problems, I'll even offer a good Whisky or a good Porto to each of them, anytime they come to Portugal.

Hello all,

Myself and several friends ran into the issue of DCS_updater failing to download/apply the update to 2.5.4.29004. Tracked it down to the updater just repeatedly requesting to read and supposedly successfully reading a file called fxo.zip. File is located at %DCS_DIRECTORY%\Bazar\shaders\fxo\fxo.zip. just delete or rename that file after killing the dcs updater via task manager and you're good to go.

It says a lot when the users find solutions to the problems the developers are supposed to fix. About as much when public modders supply things we ask for within a few days/weeks and they work perfectly with no bug.

Thank you, it might have come handy yesterday indeed.

It will keep as a reminder for future updates also.
