It appears that I have a hardware issue with my old WH grip and new WarBRD base.

Thinking that I might be crazy, I took everything to my computer repair store for them to try to fit the two pieces together.

The problem is that the male end of the WH grip is just a little too short to fit into the female plug in the WarBRD base. The female receptacle of the WH is just a little higher then the female receptacle in the WarBRD so the male end of the WH grip fits into the higher female end of the WH base.

The computer repair person took some pictures and is preparing a little report to send to me so that I can forward it to Virpil. The computer repair person wanted to try some modifications in an attempt to raise the female plug of the WarBRD, but I said no as I didn’t want to void the warranty.

My WH is about 7 years old and perhaps that have been changes made to it since then and the WarBRD base was based on these newer models-I don’t know. All I know is that he could not get them to fit and he runs a very successful computer repair store. As soon as I get the report, I will forward it to Virpil and post it here. Not a great way to start off as this is my first purchase from Virpil.

Seb has responded with the suggestion below, but I may hold off until I hear from Virpil.

All Virpil grips have the connector not fixed. The connector in the old Mongoost-50 base was also not fixed.

But the connector in the WarBRD base (and in the new MongoosT-50CM base) is fixed.

This is not an issue if you use Virpil grips.

But Warthog grip has the connector fixed on the grip. The Warthog grip and the Warthog base also have matching couplings, which limit the movement between the grip and the base stem.

WarBRD base does not have them, so any rotation of the Warthog grip puts strain on the somewhat fragile Mini-DIN connector.

By removing the screws from the connector flange in the WarBRD base, this is no longer a problem, since the connector in the base can now rotate freely.

As a bonus, now you can mount the Warthog grip in a rotated position (more ergonomic for center mount usage).

The saga continues (with no word from Virpil).

I removed the 2 screws from the WarBRD base and the TM still will not fit. I left the flange on the grip as I am not sure if I should try it without the flange. Unfortunately, with the screws off, there is really no way to know if the grip is in place until you test it on the software and see that no buttons work.

At the suggestion of someone, I removed the two screws on the sliver flange of the WarBRD base and attached is a picture of the black female plug. It appears that my black female plug is seated deeper than some other WarBRD bases.

Because it is seated so low, I cannot attach the WH grip to the plug, even with the screws removed.
