Jak525 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 This is half a wish thread and half a question as to whether or not this would be correct. I have heard before that a positively identified friendly target is marked with the word "FRIEND" by the square TD box. Is this right? If so, it would be nice to see it implemented soon.
Santi871 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Even if this is not correct for this particular hornet version, it would still be a good idea for gameplay purposes (same as setting laser codes onboard).
Manuel_108 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Huh, I wouldn't have guessed that the legacy hornet doesn't have this. Neat!
Jak525 Posted March 30, 2019 Author Posted March 30, 2019 Ah, interesting it's not on the legacy Hornet. Thanks for the reply ED! Even if this is not correct for this particular hornet version, it would still be a good idea for gameplay purposes (same as setting laser codes onboard).Ehh, I get what you mean but it's ED's job to simulate the Hornet as it is not as people want it to be. Personally I'd rather see the laser codes only changeable on the ground too.
Santi871 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 The ability to change laser code depends on the aircraft. Certain aircraft can do it because they have the power and data busses to the pylon and therefore to the weapons are hanging on them. Others cannot. The Hornet can. The hornet cannot, it was stated explicitly when it was added that it was only for gameplay purposes.

Not aircraft dependent...weapon dependent.

There is no data connection between a Paveway-II (GBU-10/12/16) and the pylon. The only interfaces between the two are the suspension lugs and the arming wire that releases the tail fins and activates the thermal battery. The code can only be changed by setting the rotary switches on the seeker/guidance kit.
