[MISSING TRACK FILE] F18 Targeting Issue

Since last update whilst flying F18 and targeting. When I target lock the lock box jumps all over the hud and doesn’t seem to be fixed to the target point, causing confusion whilst trying to manoeuvre.

e.g. target pops up on right side of Aim120 circle on HUD so you turn in that direction to intercept then it jumps to left...

 

Anyone else getting this ..

Same here. I found it was happening more when targets are softlocked via LTWS, once hardlocked the target box seemed to right itself. Lets get a track submitted.

If you're only tracking targets with the LTWS (no STT lock), it's normal. The LTWS has a low update rate, depending on your radar azimuth and bar settings. The TD box's position is updated once for every time the radar beam hits the target, so if your scan volume is large, the updates are slow.

 

Make sure you have the target locked up in STT, either by using TDC Depress on a contact that is the L&S target already or by using SSS Right in AA mode, when you have your TDC over a brick (radar contact), if you want continuous updates and the ability to guide missiles.

What Harker said, this isn't a bug. THe reason the box is so accurate in STT is because it's scanning that target only and repeatedly.

Roger that this reminds me of Wags saying in the video that you'll want to use 2 bar scan and 80 degree azimuth scan to keep it fresh.
