Chappy500 Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Hey everyone, I was just curious if anyone is able to shed some light on what I may be doing wrong using the new IFF system info and the SA page. I had a quick mission set up that I flew out and intercepted 4 enemy C-130 planes spawned from an F10 option. I have a friendly E2D in AWACS position, but when I am using the SA page and radar I am not getting any lower HAFUs showing as donor info. AWACS calls out that they see the planes though. My plane is set to hot start on ramp, and I made sure the IFF and D/L systems were turned on. Am I missing something else? Also on the topic, which may be related since I do not have donor aircraft info, I am having issues getting any IFF info until well within 20 miles and having to hard lock one of the planes. Despite NCTR on/Mode 4 depress, only after a solid lock does the HAFUs turn to a red chevron, and I assume this is because of needing two forms of interrogation? Thanks for any info, I've had a solid grasp of the Hornet up until this most recent batch of goodies  System: IBP Snowblind, i7-9700k, Zotac RTX2080Ti, 32GB DDR4 , Samsung 970 Plus 1TB M.2 NVMe, WD 1TB, Oculus Rift CV1, TM Warthog HOTAS, TM T.Flight Pedals, TM MFD's, Buddyfox A10C UFC Modules/Maps: F/A-18C, A10C, UH-1H, F-15, F5, P51, F14, Caucasus, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf, Syria
Harker Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Make sure your AWACS has EPLRS On, in order to contribute to the Link-16 network. With the current ROE implementation, you need two sources of information to identify the target as hostile. If you don't have donor information, they'll have to be a Mode 4 interrogation and a valid NCTR print. For NCTR, you also need to be within correct angle limits, 30 degrees off the turbine axis max. Keep in mind that a soft lock with LTWS will make your target the L&S target and perform an automatic Mode 4 interrogation. You still need a STT lock for NCTR (although there's a bug now and a soft lock is enough to declare a target hostile, under 25nm). After both things above, you should be able to declare the targets as hostile, indicated by a red HAFU with a top chevron (if you're the only source, diamond if there are donors) and a priority number. Awesome, I will check that EPLRS setting this evening when I get the chance, I didn't event think about that. And thanks for the other info, I think I was misunderstanding the NCTR printing and did not know that you needed an STT lock for it to work (minus the bug). Better to just set up a new one. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. Zyll Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 You can also change the AWACS to a different aircraft type, then change it back again. That should fix your EPLRS task, without you needing to recreate the enroute waypoints from scratch.
Chappy500 Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Well turns out the problem was two-fold. First, thanks for the tips, the EPLRS issue was problem #1. Problem #2 was a particular pilot may have been too impatient with letting AWACS get on station and actually relay the information. Once I let that happen, everything worked as it should. Thanks again!
