Fri13 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 So what are now the real gunsight pipper features, is it suppose to move around and lock on the ground or IR seeker locked target? I thought that those were the "game features" and the real one did have fixed pipper and the pipper only move by gyro for ACM... i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Кош Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) It should not lock on anything. Still it must move into calculated impact point position, using radar distance and to locked target and user-dialed target size for air; radar distance, barometric altitude and pre-set target area altitude above sea level for ground impact point. Which it never did in the module for Air-Air, and ceased to do for Air-Ground. Real manual sight preflight check which cannot be passed in DCS: https://leatherneck-sim.mantishub.io/file_download.php?file_id=472&type=bug Edit: Mig-19's ASP-5 had a second display for a second piper that locks onto target, so you have to put the impact point symbol on the target symbol like in a 4th gen fighter, they just had to make a separate display for each symbol back then. For MiG-21 they dropped the idea of cumbersome 2 displays and decided to leave visually invisible targets to guided missiles. Edited April 3, 2019 by Кош ППС АВТ 100 60 36 Ф < | > ! QuiGon Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 You can activate the realistic pipper in the MiG-21 special options. Unfortunately this can't be enforced for everyone on a multiplayer server. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
ResonantCard1 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 [...] using radar distance and to locked target and user-dialed target size for air; [...] I thought the sight was gyro-only and didn't use any radar inputs? Main: MiG-21bis, because pocket rockets are fun Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
ResonantCard1 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Just range, you would have to properly lead the target yourself then? Main: MiG-21bis, because pocket rockets are fun Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
