AIM 7 Sparrow LOFT mode

Hi everyone,

What means LOFT indicator under aim7 hud number when press cage/uncage button on my hotas.

 

What difference between aim7 with or without loft mode enable ?

it makes to missile to fly a higher trajectory to face less dense air and thus increase energy during hitting the target...

What SirJ said. You'll also notice that the steering dot points higher when in LOFT mode, indicating that you should launch while pitching up.

 

LOFT is best used for far away targets, while you should switch to NORM as you get closer, since lofting the missile might actually hurt its performance close range.

Just forget about LOFT mode until it is properly implemented. It doesnt increase range but only time between launch and impact.

Pretty sure someone posted some V/T graphs in this forum section showing that when lofted, the missile does arrive at a distant target (in SIM) with a greater velocity (having dived from altitude), and so greater manoeuvrability, & in principal greater effectiveness.

Last time i tried, it just arrived later. Only MH LOFT at the moment, unless something changed, and I launched MH in LOFT and M without LOFTing. MH arrived later and slower.
