station2station Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 All of the devs involved in DCS appear to put 125% into their work. Should we not drive to also have the new F16 mimic real life by running into its own rounds?! Realism here  https://defence-blog.com/news/netherlands-f-16-fighter-jet-literally-ran-into-its-own-rounds-during-exercise.html?fbclid=IwAR1k-R_Hzhc9oENRzQMCa4n4AI6QBQ5O6m0rxobnLU8ZOnQh6RlfU1ITV6w System Specs: Intel 8700K (Factory Clocks) / NZXT Kraken X62 ASUS ROG STRIX 1080TI Corsair RGB 32GB @ 3600MHZ Samsung 970EVO M.2 OS Drive / 2 x Samsung 960EVO SATA Game Drive (DCS and STEAM) Phankteks Enthoo Evolv TG w/ something like, 9 case fans now... Exorcet Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I'm not sure if I've ever seen this happen in DCS with cannons, but I did manage to shoot myself with an AIM-120C while flying the F-15 once. Gierasimov Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Would that be even possible with a muzzle velocity of an M61 gun? Fake I think, at least the description of what allegedly happened. From the photo in this article, not knowing what kind of damage is actually visible on the photo, it would look more like gun installation and zeroing that went wrong here. mvsgas Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3875531&postcount=1221 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
Fri13 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 It would be possible if shot up in the air and fly then below the stream of shells that are falling from the sky... But otherwise it is impossible as the shells speed is aircraft speed + the velocity of the firing. So if example aircraft flies 550 km/h (ground attack) and the M61 muzzle velocity is 1050 m/s then the shell is traveling on the muzzle at 153 m/s + 1050 m/s = 1103 meters per second. To someone escape a shells that other aircraft fires at the rear, should they fly then 3780 km/h or Mach 3.08. But that would be situation where M61 is stationary and shoots after a aircraft. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
