mac22 Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 As the title says want to either: 1)Create 2 installs of DCS open beta (not steam version) or 2)Move my full install into my new SSD drive How do I do this without having to reinstall everything?
Bobik2002 Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) So you have 2 systems, if yea i think you need activate modules in both if you want fly with that module. You want have 2 instalations? Edited April 28, 2019 by Bobik2002 Ryzen 9 5900x | 32GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | 32GB RAM
Rudel_chw Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) Old thread, but the procedure is still valid and applies to your case: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3301999#post3301999 Edit: the activation of modules that use starforce protection is per machine, no need to reactivate on sucessive reinstalls unless you reinstall windows itself. mac22 Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 Rudel thanks (note its all on the same PC just a HDD drive and SSD) 1)So from the link it seems I just need to create a 2nd saved game folder by creating a .txt file with MAIN as the only content which a change to say beta on the 2nd install - then I move all the files across? 2)Its not mentioned but anyone know if I can move the whole install across from my HDD to my SSD or is it better to create a 2nd install?
mac22 Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 also my copying the .txt into main folder do they mean the bin folder or the DCS beta folder above it?

It depends on what is exactly what are you trying to acomplish ... the old thread that I cited was about having two separate versions of DCS on the same computer; is that what you want? ... or you just want to move your current DCS to another drive? 2)Its not mentioned but anyone know if I can move the whole install across from my HDD to my SSD or is it better to create a 2nd install? You can move, but I actually prefer to copy things, then test the new install, and if all is good then delete the original ... this is safer as you can keep the original DCS until you’ve made sure that the new works well. also my copying the .txt into main folder do they mean the bin folder or the DCS beta folder above it? Sorry, dont understand, but read the quoted thread completely as it has illustrations showing every step.
