Using Trackir 5 I try to keep vision on the bandit in vertical maneuvers via looking upwards. However I can‘t look further upwards than 90 degrees (straight up). In order to keep track of the bandit I can only look backwards by looking left or right, which feels unnatural.

Really? The TrackIR itself is unnatural how people use it to look around.

How many you know can tilt their face past 90 degree?

While TIR, itself, will let you easily go to 180° in the vertical, the sim restricts you to just a tad over 90°. That's true, at least, for the aircraft I've paid attention to it in. But, then again, sitting strapped into a seat, how far past the 90° vertical can you look in real life without twisting around to the side? For me, it's roughly what I see in the sim.
