Tomas9970 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 (edited) It would be cool to have a proper cruise missile that can hit targets that are hundreds of kilometers away. I'm not sure about the JASSM-ER classification. Edited April 30, 2019 by Tomas9970
AvroLanc Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 We won't get this. Doesn't match 2005 ish timeframe. Legacy hornets can't even carry it AFAIK. We'll get SLAM-ER at some point though...
Tomas9970 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Ok. I thought that it's a gps guided weapon just like any other.
Martin2487 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 AGM-158 JAASM is in DCS F-16 weapon list. So maybe we can believe that when they do it for the F-16, they will add it to the F-18. But I don't think it's going to be any time soon.
Tomas9970 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Maybe they are expecting it to be less classified when the f-16 gets released. There is still no JASSM-ER planned but that might be because of balance.
Cytarabine Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 As they are simulating USN/USMC F/A-18C's and the Navy opted for the SLAM-ER over the JASSM I doubt we will see it. They certainly can be used by legacy Hornets (both the RAAF and the Finnish use them from legacy Hornets) but like some other overseas specific weapons (like the ASRAAM on RAAF F-18's) we probably won't see it. They are used from USAF F-16's and F-15E's so perhaps on those aircraft we will see it.
