Auger Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 (edited) New computer is on the way and I'll be glad to retire this 10 yo PC. It will be nice to get into a MP or SP game without having to wait 5 minutes for everything to load up. :) The only thing I have configured on my HOTAS is the A10A and the F5E but I'm wondering if there is a way to carry over my HOTAS configuration to the new PC or do I need setup everything again? Is it just a matter of copying over a few files? And if so, which file will I need? Thanks Edited May 20, 2019 by Auger
dburne Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 You can export each controller's button assignments and axis assignments individually. Then on the new DCS install you can import them back in individually. Note any buttons assigned as modifier or shift will not carry over properly, you will need to add those modifiers again. I will tell you when I did my new build back in Jan, I just re-assigned everything. I too only had a couple modules to do. Also be aware the new DCS install will assign multiple axis assignments across your controllers, you will need to clear those out first. hansangb Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 This is where DCS really needs to shore up. The problem is that configs are tied to UID used by USB devices (those long series of numbers and letters). So if save your SAVED FOLDERS, you would have to change the UIDs with the new UIDs assigned to your USB devices. Or what Don did. I'm thinking what Don suggested would take about the same amount of time. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Auger Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Thanks, I will just re-assign my inputs and be glad I'm not flying a dozen different aircraft.
Weegie Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) As both hans & Donnn said When I moved from Win7 to 10 AFTER I imported DCS I then individually copied over the old configs & you need to do that for every module and device so it's lengthy and a bit of a PIA As hans states you'll have different UIDs for the same devices, so your devices will have different adresses For instance, using the A-10 as an example, in Win7 I have my joystick file name (in the folder Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick\) VKBSim Fat Mamba {6937C020-42A1-11e9-8012-444553540000}.diff.lua in Win10 it's VKBSim Fat Mamba {28D2C0D0-522C-11e9-800D-444553540000}.diff.lua So what I did was copied over the old file then renamed it to the new address. That's all you need to do, but you need to it for every device so it becomes a little tiring. However better that than having t remake all new configs for every device Edited May 23, 2019 by Weegie Spacing
