In both the campaign and standalone Alert 5 missions, all waypoints are almost 3500 NM from my start on the carrier.

Is this an issue across the board or do I have a bad file?

I suspect this mini campaign isn't going to have a lot of maintenance and TLC until the bug is more feature complete, but I didn't find anyone else complaining and honestly liked the mini campaign as a quick play through and test of different systems.

Experiencing the same issue here.

It looks like the INS problem.

However, I still can't find any work around so far. Tried to reset the INS, allow it a couple of minutes to realign. Unlike in the other missions or MP server, the same trick doesn't quite work here.

Hope ED can fix this soon.

Done this campaign a while ago. Due to recent upgrade/reinstallation, its progress got rest, which gives me a nice chance to redo the campaign, and see how much I've improved since then... oh well, guess I'll have to wait for a while...

TL;DR:

It's a known issue due to the mission's date being before March 28th 1994 i.e. there's no GPS signal

Detail:

• Hornet 1989-Alert 5.miz

is set on 12th December 1989.

A work around is to copy the mission from

"DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Missions\Single"

to

"Saved Games\DCS\Missions"

and use the Mission Editor to change the year of the mission i.e. to 12th December 1994

You can then run the mission from the ME or via DCS>Mission>My Missions

The mission is as designed but the Hornet's INS is still WIP and doesn't work without a GPS signal ATM.

Tested using Open Beta 2.5.5.32299

That's interesting and makes a lot of sense. I suspected it had something to do INS as I kept reading, but since I couldn't complete an alignment at the mission start, I thought it was something deeper in the systems/mission like a lack of starting coordinates.
