ISP Blocking DCS Login somehow

Hbomb

Recommended Posts

So as per a previous thread, my ISP IInet in Australia has somehow blocked access to Login to DCS and even go onto the Website.... I have spent hours on the phone trying to get them to fix this, but keep coming up with it's not their end.

What do they need to check??? is it just the port 10308? or something else.

I know they are the problem as all my friends on IInet have the same issue.

And I can connect though a VPN....

any hints?

We did a tracert first thing and they have the results.

I am wondering if there are any extra ports that may have been blocked at their end or if the www.digitalcombatsimulator.com website has anything special needed to be able to access it... i.e. security protocols etc.

It is hard to explain when tech support is in another country and does not have the same connection as Australia. Theirs is fine in Africa.

Gone through the same processes with Internode ISP that use the IInet network, they determined it isn't their network and most likely blocked by remote servers and left it at that (Unresolved).

Internode themselves can access the DCS website, they also claim that 4G mobile users can also access it no problems, but I am suspecting that all internode users on NBN with an FTTP land connections to premises can not, I say this as myself and a friend that have different computer setups, but similar NBN with FTTP connections with Internode ISP are unable to access the DCS website.

There are reports from AUST states: WA, ACT, TAS (me) with this issue, the trace routes from here are very slow with long timeouts shown, it does get to the website address eventually, but takes way to long to get any sort of response to sync up.

Testing shows:

  1. Ping -a www.digitalcombatsimulator.com works fine, over multiple tests, the IP address flutuated between 91.134.1.104 and 5.135.108.202 which was quite strange

Cheers MadDog, I was following your thread to see if any progress...I am still waiting a reply from someone in tech support in Australia... to see if they did an update or anything last Monday night...how can it not be there end when everyone on their network cannot connect.

I’m putting off the inevitable change of provider until there is nothing else left.

Looking up whirlpool forums found others with similar issues and did some more investigations myself.

Would seem that the Internode IP addresses supplied to their users may be blacklisted by the OVH group of servers in the EU / France.

Might be worth a call to the support at (https://www.ovh.com.au/)

Other similar complaints here.

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3r75v0k9

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3r75mxx9

A few sites that aren't working and are going through similar xxxx.fr.eu servers:

www.digitalcombatsimulator.com

www.icy-veins.com

www.freepik.com

I also found my current IP address on a blacklist somewhere in brasil, not sure if it is bogus or not.

Also trying to get the fellow that looks after the DCS website server involved, he has removed the second IP address of the server so it only has the one address now to stop any confusion. This change has caused my DCS_Updater to now report "Time out was reached" error instead of a "Server not found" error, but no improvement overall, same goes for web access to the DCS site and DCS game logons, still times out. He continues to investigate at his end.

Some more info, today, noticed that the routing has changed quite a lot to what it was the other day (This may indicate they are working on the problem), but still doesn't work, this is showing 100% packet loss in some spots between server /routers and the routers themselves (Highlighted in BOLD).

I also sent this log to Internode ISP for more proof, but not getting anymore feed back from them at the moment (Last couple of days).

I am happy to say that Internode ISP is now operation again, I can do DCS updates, authenticate and browse the website.

Interesting thing is that the routing went back to the same paths and still gives similar missing packets but now functions ok and also have no acknolegement from the provider that they fixed anything.

Hope it has resolved for all of you others with IINet / Internode.

Wow, so specific - but yes, me too. IINet, FTTP customer ... just spent an hour or two trying to work out why JUST the DCS website is blocked for me.

Glad I know why now at least...

I can get around it with VPNs and Proxies and such, but that is such a pain especially in game

Be aware that this can also be caused by a different issue. When I got the error that the DCS Login failed I googled and discovered that by setting auto login to off, I could then connect, and also set auto connect back on.

please read this faq and find the options.lua file

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...q/501/#1825373

open it in the text editor

find the section "miscellaneous"] =

then the value:

["autologin"] = true,

change true to false

save options.lua file and run DCS

Different problem in this case mate. For example the following link times out...

...unless I use VPN.

Curiously enough this one now works...

which it didn't before but still can not log into the game without VPN.

Yep - just wanted to make sure anyone stumbling on this thread searching with the same problem knows about this fix (and coincidentally I’m with iiNet and I got the web server not available around 2 months ago when this solved it for me).

ISP Blocking DCS Updater???

Hi, I live in australia and im with Optus (changed over to NBN a month ago). Im having very simialr problems as I have tried several times to update DCS World. I seem to get the following issues:

1. It starts to download the updater file, then just stops, or

2. Get the message 'Servers are unable to complete your request. Please try again later." but it nevers seems to work.

See attachments for screenshots.

I tried updating just after xmas, and then today (2 weeks later) and still the same issue.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd welcome your thoughts on the issue.
