Banzaiib Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 (edited) When Jester shifts the radar from "center" to "high middle", there's a large gap in vertical volume between the 2 scan zones. At ~6k ft, 50 mile range, the elevation max and min when "centered" was 27 / 0. When instructed to move the radar to "high middle", the max and min jumped to 93 / 47. That leaves a massive volume un-scanned... this is making it very difficult to instruct jester to point the radar cone at D/L bandits that are barely above or below the "center" scan zone... leaving the only option to retreat and get more distance, then STT lock them, completely negating the benefit of TWS among other things.. This is RIO 101 stuff here... bandit at 50 miles on D/L, hot, hey Jester, how about you point the radar cone at him... pls and thanks or just let me slew it myself :P Edited June 26, 2019 by Banzaiib

(i prefer bandits with brains) 2. This is the point of the OP, that you shouldn't have to do this. 3. Wut? My ask of HB is simple... just reduce the amount of elevation Jester inputs so the volumes overlap... until Jester gets better at being a RIO.

I know ("Currently you have this options"). 3. There's this "Auto EL and AZ radar" Jester command - screenshot. Don't know what it really does. Problem lies with only 5 options for radar AZ. If you make the elevations closer together they will be more handy for BVR but get worse for WVR. We should have more freedom than this.
