Tharos and Pikey aren't random users fiddling with random stuff. They likely know what they're talking about. And no, just because a dev said something doesn't mean it's error proof, as even a cursory glance around the forums will reveal.

 

You also need to understand these conversations come up frequently, and people get tired of explaining them everytime some rando comes in like he's the first to think of something. If they are saying it's incorrect, you should take their word for it.

 

If anything, Wags statement, even if incorrect NOW, may be an indication of the longterm intent, a system being developed that could be affected by the matter. It's not a black/white issue necessarily.

Agreed. But that doesn't mean that I can or should take the word of someone who contradicts them without wanting to offer any supporting evidence.

 

Like you say, this isn't exactly a new issue, and if it was such an iron-clad case of Wags being wrong, I would rather expect there to be an (almost) equally long-established and vast collection of data to show this to be the case. But apparently there isn't. Vague suggestions to test things that aren't actually related to the claim don't exactly help either.

 

There's only one detail that bears any resemblance of relevance so far: the point-“mesh” LoD at certain distances, but that hasn't been elaborated on so it's not a whole lot to go on even if it were up to me to test these things.

 

 

And let me iterate an important point here: I want them to be right on this point, because that would have some very important far-reaching consequences, but they're doing everything they can to make me disbelieve what they say, which is kind of sad…

Any 'evidence' is in posts in the dozen other recent threads on the topic. Him not digging through his own post history or having the convo bookmarked doesn't mean it didn't happen. Two trustworthy users here, Pikey is a major modder and would know for sure how the luas are configured, have corrected that statement and offered a way to verify their statements. Tharos is correct, at this point it's down to stubborness @@
