maks Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Hi there, Need some advise I want to change my existing SSD 250gb (only used for dcs no other files on it) with a 1tb version. Now it seems, i dont have any free connection inside my desktop (no tech experience with pc building), nor cable connections. Can i just copy the whole DCS file from the SSD 250gb , first onto a usb backup disk , then install the 1tb version ssd into the pc , and then copy from the usb backup disk onto the new ssd and play the game again ?.......or is there another way , easier, safer..... thanks in advance for any advice, help brgds Maks

Yes, that will work........or is there another way , easier, safer..... The way you described is very safe, as you are not modifying the original disk, so if something goes wrong (say, the new ssd is defective) you still can revert to the current configuration. However, you will be copying the dcs folder twice, and it is a long copy ... another way would be to get one of these: https://www.newegg.com/p/0VN-005N-00046?Description=usb%20drive%20enclosure&cm_re=usb_drive_enclosure-_-0VN-005N-00046-_-Product Be sure to pick a usb 3.0 unit, instead of usb 2.0 This way, you copy from the old drive straight into the new one, a single time ... and the old drive will be able to be used as an external drive for backup purposes.
