BULLITT83 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 (edited) Hi guys i've build my pit but for the moment i use leobodnard card to connect switches , i'm very happy with that.PERfect i'm able to have 'inputs" But now i would like to do the opposite , do recover "a signal" in order to light on a led ( I.E the green gear lights ) Did someone can brief me very fast ? i mean explain me the generic , basic schematic . where to takes the signal , which type of card i can use to convert this "signal " to a led ? I 'm not familiar with arduino , is there another type of card to do that ? more "plug and play" like leobodnard cards ? just to explain what i'm able to do : i 'm able to go in controls files and create my own switch modifying LUA , but i've no knowledge in arduino . my english is not perfect , i hope you understand what i ask ? JG14_Smil Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Bonjour, I was not familiar with Arduino's either, but it is pretty simple to get LED's working with it using DCS BIOS in my L-39C pit build. Helios supports the Phidgett's and I think another called an EOS setup for outputs, at least for the Ka-50 and A-10. Ikarus can work with Arcaze cards. I would have used these if I could get them in the US.
BULLITT83 Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 Thanks a lot for your answer , can explain me what is DCS BIOS , i read about here every where , but cannot really understand what is it ? I 'm already using IKARUS, but no F14 profile for the moment Guillaume
Hansolo Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 DCS-BIOS is a piece of software which allows you to interact with DCS via an Arduino controller. It make you able to flip a switch in DCS via a real switch similar to how you do with your Leo Bodnar card, with the exemption that you have to apply the code to the Arduino controller yourself. This is a turtorial done by Ian (farther of DCS-BIOS); For latest download please see here; https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=141096&page=7 As you can see you are guided along the way for adding the code. Granted you ay also make something a lot more difficult such as an LCD showing TACAN channels, or driving a gauge using stepper motors. BULLITT83 Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Hi HANS thanks for the link and the explanation , since i now use 5 leo cards , ( and i'm very happy iwth them ) do you think i can now mix them with an arduino for LCD , leds display in my simpit ? thanks again i wil study all this regards guillaume
Bullant Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 There's no reason at all why you couldn't run an arduino with dcs-bios just to handle the outputs driving LCDs. This version of dcsbios has support for the F14 https://github.com/DCSFlightpanels/dcs-bios Intel i7 13700K @ 5.3 GHz / ASUS TUF Gaming Z490-Plus / 64 Gb G.Skill DDR4-3600 / RTX 4090 / 2TB Kingston KC3000 NVME / Win 10 x64 Pro / Pimax Crystal / WINWING F/A-18 HOTAS A-10C, AJS-37, AV-8B, F-4E, F-5E, F-14, F-15E, F-16, F/A-18C, F-86F, FC3, Christen Eagle 2, FW190D-9, Mosquito, P-47D, P-51D, Spitfire, AH-64D, KA-50, UH-1H Combined Arms, WWII Asset Pack, China Assets Pack, Super Carrier, Falklands Assets Nevada, Normandy, Persian Gulf, The Channel, Syria, Mariana Islands, South Atlantic, Sinai, Kola, Afghanistan
BULLITT83 Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 thanks andrew ... but i don't understand which version i should take , yours or hansolo link ? another question , i try to understand , i just need ot copy those folder in the directory given on the tutorial , nothing to install ? just arduino sofware correct ?
Bullant Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 thanks andrew ... but i don't understand which version i should take , yours or hansolo link ? They are both the same version :) another question , i try to understand , i just need ot copy those folder in the directory given on the tutorial , nothing to install ? just arduino sofware correct ? Have a read here for very detailed instructions on how to setup dcsbios https://github.com/dcs-bios/dcs-bios/blob/master/Scripts/DCS-BIOS/doc/userguide.adoc Note this documentation is on the original non-maintained version of dcsbios so do not download it from there (but the documentation is still totally valid). BULLITT83 Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 Thanks a lot andrew , i think i will order an arduino starter kit to test all this. thanks a lot for your help Guillaume
Bullant Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 You're welcome. In case you didn't know the official arduinos are quite expensive, but the chinese clones on ebay work just as well and are very cheap. Can you help me ?
