mac22 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Using the DCS open world beta - just wondering what the easiest way to move the install onto a new SSD drive - can you simply cut and paste the directory or are you going to need to reinstall everything again?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 5, 2019 ED Team Posted July 5, 2019 Hi mac22 yes you can cut and paste to the new directory, but you will have to update any shortcuts manually. mac22 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Yes, correct. Just been told I might also need to adjust some registry settings to point to the new location (in addition to updating the shortcut)in order for updates to continue working - anyone know which folder/where I need to change?

But don't forget that c:\users\UserName\SAVED GAMES will still stay on the C: (or wherever you installed the OS) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
maxTRX Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 cut and paste and you're done. But don't forget that c:\users\UserName\SAVED GAMES will still stay on the C: (or wherever you installed the OS) I used "Move to" in Windows (10) explorer. It's selectable from "File" pulldown menu. Everything is working fine, including updates. No messing with registry. I guess it's the same as copy and paste.
mac22 Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) cut and paste and you're done. But don't forget that c:\users\UserName\SAVED GAMES will still stay on the C: (or wherever you installed the OS) as its a cut and paste - think I will back up everything first just to be safe - anyone know where the controller profiles are sitting - is it within the saved games folder (this sits on my C drive) also if I copy and paste it (then delete the old folder when the new one works ok) assume this should work ok - or do I really need to cut and paste to avoid any issues?
