zippoa Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 When playing in Multiplayer and you take KA-50 or F/A-18 their computers are loaded with current SAM positions. It may be good for Singleplayer but in Multiplayer it is just almost cheating. For example for F/A-18 it allows to fly at safe distance from any SAM, because their range is shown on SA display. When in KA-50 you can easily destroy enemy SAM because you see their last position on map. Server owners should be able to enable/disable this feature. Maybe it should be some flag in mission editor.
Rescue Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 It's not cheating. In ME you can change that the SAM isn't visible. Don't know the right name of the option but it's there. All visible, in this case "known" SAM's, are displayed, so you can avoid or take action on them. Grettings
Exorcet Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I don't see why this is more important for multiplayer than singleplayer. Anyway, while Hidden might work, the Hidden option also prevents the unit from showing up in Fog of War mode. So I'd would very much welcome an option that decouples hiding the unit from making it unveiwable in the F10 view, etc. I'm not sure if Hidden on Planner does this, I haven't tested it yet with the F-18 or Ka-50. E: Misread the post at first, but yes, I think this is indeed (part of) the intended use of Hidden on Planner, but like you I haven't actually tested it against the Hornet yet — if it doesn't already, it should work like that in the future. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. zippoa Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 But will these SAM units visible for tactical commanders? Will he be able to move them, while they still not shown for enemy F/A-18 and KA-50 ?
Harlikwin Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 This is a non issue as many folks have said. That being said there are plethora of online servers with this not enabled. But there are plenty of them that don't show enemy sams/units or only partial ones. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. zippoa Posted July 31, 2019 Author Posted July 31, 2019 So idea is in next, players on one side must be able to move as Tactical Commanders SAM units from their side. But players on other side with F/A-18 and KA-50 should not get information about this SAMs loaded into their computers.
feefifofum Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Already done a couple of patches ago...there are two options now. As I understand it, "Hidden on map" behaves like we are used to, where the enemy position is completely concealed even in fog of war/same-side TC slots. There is a second option, "Hidden on Planner", which will conceal the unit from the briefed threat picture but still allow it to follow the server's map view rules, and remove it from the SA page. zippoa Posted August 19, 2019 Author Posted August 19, 2019 (edited) You sure this option works? I just jumped into F/A-18 at server where admins set property "Hidden On Planner" to all units, but I still see it on SA page. Same thing with KA-50 Edited August 19, 2019 by zippoa
Harlikwin Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 I know it can be done, there are often both visible and hidden sams/units on GAW. zippoa Posted August 19, 2019 Author Posted August 19, 2019 I would say it does not work at all. Just tried in editor and units are visible in KA-50
