Venator44 Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I was looking through the encyclopedia :book:, and came upon something odd. The S-125 launcher is stated to use "4 SA-3 (V-600 or V-601) missile". However, those missiles (the V-600P, V-601P & V-601PD) do not correspond with the missile it seems to be using. It seems like it is using the SA-N-1a (the naval version of the missile), which should also be able to hit surface targets. Furthermore, if it does use this missile, it looks like it should have a maximum range of 5 nm, instead of the 5.5 nm it actually has. The V-600P has a range between 2.2 and 8.1 nm; the V-601P has a range between 1 and 10 nm; and the V-601PD has a range between 1 - 16 nm. Neither of the four missiles mentioned above are mentioned in the weapon section of the encyclopaedia. Could somebody please clarify what is going on? Am I making a mistake or overlooking something? Or could it be that ED uses the wrong missile? Thanks in advance! :smartass:

ED Team Chizh Posted August 9, 2019 ED Team Posted August 9, 2019 We use the improved 5V27 (V-601, 4К91) missile. Единственный урок, который можно извлечь из истории, состоит в том, что люди не извлекают из истории никаких уроков. (С) Джордж Бернард Шоу
Venator44 Posted August 10, 2019 Author Posted August 10, 2019 As what would that missile be named in the encyclopaedia? I cannot find it under any of the names you gave me. The 5V27 (there is a 5V55), the V-601, or the 4K91 missiles are nowhere to be found. Furthermore, The 4K91 missile traces back to the SA-N-1b Goa missile (the naval variant), but this missile has a range between 1 nm and 10 nm. However, the 5V27 missile traces back to the SA-3 b and c (the latter being the 5V27D) variants. But these missiles have a respective range of 1 - 10 nm and 1 - 16 nm.
ED Team Solution Chizh Posted August 10, 2019 ED Team Solution Posted August 10, 2019 The 5V27 missile has description only for RU locale now. We'll do it for other locales soon.
