Hello

I have like 20-30 missions that i made for dcs during 2018 and 2019.

But when i startup dcs world 2,5 beta then only 5 missions are visible inside of dcs and dcs can no longer see all missions before may 2019 i think.

From within dcs world ( main menu )

I tried looking via missions but can only see 5 out of 20-30 mission

I tried making a MP server missions but can only see 5 out of 20-30 mission

I open the editor but can only see 5 out of 20-30 mission

Outside of dcs via windows I can see all of my missions in the folder

C:\Users\MY-name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions

I was wondering is this a glitch or something ?

My dcs world 2,5 open beta is uptodate and i have repaired/updated it a few days ago.

Thank you for help in advance.

I have notised something strange with dcs, the file system seem to be stuck

The problem is that when i press missions and want to load a user made mission wich are stored in savegames@dcs.openbeta\missions then the directory never "update" it self so all files become avaliable.

Its like its stuck in the past.

I tried to rename the folder C:\Users\MY-name\Saved Games\

to save game1 hoping it would force dcs to update the directory

But dcs still see the missions on location

C:\Users\MY-name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions

Next i tried to delete the savedgames folder

But dcs can still see and navigate the now deleted folder and even load one of the 5 visible missions.

I tried to cleanup dcs and repaired dcs world open beta.

But it still have a ghost directory and are able to navigate the deleted folders inside of dcs..

Its like dcs is "stuck in time" and that the file system does not update any folder that i navigate to.

Are there some kind of cache in Dcs directory that i can delete or backup that i can delete ?

I'm sure DCS is looking at a different place on your hard drive than you think it is.

Inside DCS you can click folders and the [..] (<-- I think that's correct...) button to navigate.

I would find the files you're trying to load on the hard drive, then don't worry about where DCS is at right now. Just press the [..] button to get to c:\, then follow the path where you know the files exist.

Also... Don't rename folders within the folder structure of DCS. Nothing good can come of that until you learn a LOT more about DCS :).

Do you have your documents folder redirected? I've seen the DCS.OpenBeta folder in c:\users\name\documents\saved games\DCS.OpenBeta before.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

I am using the Danish version of windows 10 64bit and my file structure is a little bit different than std English version i think

In documents i dont have the folder you write about, but instead it uses the following location.

MY file structure is

C:\Users\MY-name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions

I tried to copy my missions to c:\missions and then started dcs world and manual navigate to the folder. I still only see 5 missions out of 20-30 missions in total.

I have attached a simple mission for multiple planes that i made last year, and this mission i cannot load or see in dcs world anymore

If anyone like to give it a try, then copy my mission and see if it show up in your game.. delle-airport-strike-1.miz

ps.. Many planes are avaliable, and the mission is about flying low inbetween mountains and taking out a runway.. its pretty good ;-)

It looks like the zip (because that's all miz files are) is simply damaged. Not having missions show up is generally a sign that some core component of the miz file structure — the embedded “mission” or “dictionary” files, for instance — is missing or malformed (the latter may happen if you do a lot of manual editing to get around editor limitations).

In this case, however, it seems like the zip container itself is just done for. Normally, you should be able to just rename a .miz file to .zip and open it up in just about anything (or have a magic-byte aware file manager that recognises it for what it is from the get-go), but when I try that on the file you posted, it just spits out an error. I don't have any good tools on hand to really dig into it, but that's a start at least.

small update.

I found out after Tippis advice that my missions where corrupted.

I have with success restored my missions from an external usb harddisk.

Thank for the help.

Hmm... I'm not sure what's wrong then.

If you copied the missions to c:\missions and then manually navigated there in DCS I don't know what to say...

In theory there could be a version mismatch but I thought DCS didn't do that so I doubt it.

Something else you can do once your missions are built and ready to be just played rather than tinkered with:

Put them in an OvGME mod and install them to the appropriate modules in your main game folder. (Not the Saved Games folder). When there's an update available, they can be uninstalled with a click along with all your other mod files until the update is done, and then re-activated.

Same here, I can’t read some missions after the last update and I can’t use all my aircraft and scenarios, the manager showed as installed but it’s not working. I made a repair and the program find all my aircraft and terrains as extras files and ask me to delete it. Now I’m installing all again but not the NTTR, I have it but the program didn’t listed it.

Any ideas?
