MobiSev Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 title says it all.... when iglas do hit something (a lot of the time they do not track correctly) no damage is registered by the plane hit. As a comparison, stingers hit and kill in one shot Modules owned: FC3, M-2000C, Mig-21bis, F-5E, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, KA-50, Mi-8, F-14A&B, JF-17
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 16, 2019 ED Team Posted August 16, 2019 Hi MobiSev Just did a quick test, igla fired two at me, missed with the first and hit with the second and it was a kill. MobiSev Posted August 16, 2019 Author Posted August 16, 2019 Hi MobiSev Just did a quick test, igla fired two at me, missed with the first and hit with the second and it was a kill. Is this issue on a particular mission or just a general observation? I was testing the igla (both versions) in PG. Out of 20 or so shots, 15 hits, but only 2 kills....or that even did any damage. I had a Stinger right next to it and it would get kills every shot that hit. Also, I was manually controlling them in tac commander slot I will try to post a track. MobiSev Posted August 16, 2019 Author Posted August 16, 2019 (edited) After testing again, its strange....sometimes they will kill in one shot like they should, or at least do damage. Other times I can watch a single plane take 15 hits and take no damage at all. EDIT: what's the warhead compared with the stinger? Is it smaller? If so, that might be a reason I think no damage is being done. Edited August 16, 2019 by MobiSev Modules owned: FC3, M-2000C, Mig-21bis, F-5E, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, KA-50, Mi-8, F-14A&B, JF-17
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 16, 2019 ED Team Posted August 16, 2019 strange, I will keep an eye out for this Forum rules - DCS Crashing? nighthawk2174 Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 the igla's warhead is just 2.6 lbs with just 14oz of explosive and is a contact fuze only. The stinger's warhead is 6.6 lbs, unknown amount of explosive filler but I'll bet a good chunk of money its much more than what's in the sa-18 + its a proxy fuze warhead as well. This warhead is absolutely tiny and at most should take off a control surface, kill an engine either just temporally due to the blast or actually damage it, or at worst damage a fuel tank and start a fire.
