Andy2828 Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Can I get some input on how everyone adjusts how the AI fighters react when they spawn in. I'm trying to build an A2A arena where you can spawn in and fight a PVP opponent or chose to fight an AI fighter of your choice from the F10 menu. I've finally got it down to where it works correctly but the AI fighters are very unpredictable. Sometimes the work correctly and fly to the center WP and Intercept with you and fight correctly. Other times they spawn in and fly around randomly and other times they turn and fly away and land. All the different AI's are setup exactly the same...they are set to Intercept, to fly to a center WP and they are set to weapons free. I'm not sure what else I can do to make them come in and fight every time. Ideas? Thanks.
feefifofum Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 The largest factor is whether the unit is capable of detecting you. The sensor suite on the aircraft as well as any logistics for the aligned coalition will determine how easily you'll be detected. Placing a long-range EWR or an AWACS should help direct them towards you consistently. One other thing to consider - last I tested, AI did not react properly to multi-client groups. Fighters would only attack the flight lead; the workaround was to place every aircraft in its own individual group and I never stopped building things that way after finding the bug. Schmidtfire Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Thats because AI does not follow the same rules as a human player. They have 360 degree vision, so you cannot sneak up on them. AI also have insane energy and will use it. When you are stalling in the vertical, cookin’ your engine - the AI will keep going upwards. ED is aware about the AI issue so hopefully it will be fixed. I don’t even bother with WWII air-air as it is a very frustrating experience.
dark_wood Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I have observed that if you set the AI group with "Intercept" task (or "CAP"), they will behave less aggressive than "Fighter Sweep". With "Fighter Sweep" they always engage, with "Intercept" they can fly close to you without any reaction.
feefifofum Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 They have to be given a specific target with the "Intercept" role. "Fighter sweep" and "CAP" are generic roles whose default actions include search-then-engage type tasks. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
