Sparky28 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 I'm loving the jet is very much fun for such a small thing! I'm having issues with the trim though mainly on the pitch its very hard to get the trim right as in for a level flight. The nose comes up alot no sooner do I seem to trim the nose than it wants to pitch down there never seems a happy inbetween It seems to take alot of effort am I doing something or is it just a quirk of the air frame? I should point out this is a total clean EB with no flaps, gear or air brake down!
TLTeo Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Make sure your speedbreak is retracted and the speedbreak position is neutral. If it isn't the plane automatically keeps trimming.
Devrim Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 I have the same thing but I'm not sure it's a bug or not. As we know this aircraft has no level flight autopilot and I don't think we can trim it perfectly for a precise level flight. After a few 10 secs you'll see nose up-down or wings up-down. Aircraft can't stay perfectly in a direction. This is same just like WW2 planes, and that's very normal to me. TLTeo; I understand from your post, if we make sure speedbreak's position and keep it retracted, it flies as level flight. Right? TLTeo Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 If the speedbreak switch on the throttle is neutral yes. If it isn't, then no. Just the trim panel on the top left of the cockpit to make sure.
kontiuka Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 I think it's next to impossible to perfectly trim it. Any change in speed, thrust, weight, drag, attitude will throw off the trim which is expected. I can get it pretty close where it's only losing or gaining less than 50 feet/minute. One trick is not to overcompensate on the trim and to use very gentle stick inputs (like tiny incremental tugs) to keep your climb/descent rate around zero.
TheSkipjack95 Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Trim will almost never make the plane fly perfectly hands off, it's there to reduce stick forces, mainly. So it's normal that you can never quite get it to fly straight. Same thing in the F-5
Devrim Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 ...Same thing in the F-5Good info for me. :) Thanks a lot.
