yup, though it would be a plane hard to handle and no rudder.

Yeah but it seams there weren`t serious problems with the handling: "The Ho IX V2 reportedly displayed very good handling qualities, with only moderate lateral instability (a typical deficiency of tailless aircraft). While the second flight was equally successful, the undercarriage was damaged by a heavy landing caused by Ziller deploying the brake parachute too early during his landing approach. There are reports that during one of these test flights the Ho IX V2 undertook a simulated "dog-fight" with an Messerschmitt Me 262. It is stated that the Ho IX V2 out performed the Me 262."

It had rudders but as soilers at the wings. Now imaging if you loose one of the engines at low peed with full trottle; with those widely separated engines it would mean big trouble.

HAL`s Light Combat Helicopter made its first flight

HAL has added another feather in its cap, when the first Technology Demonstrator of its indigenously designed & developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) lifted off smoothly for its maiden flight at Helicopter Complex, Bangalore on 29th March 2010.

Amazing the indians getting so many aircraft and making some of those in house...

But their maintenance I hear is somewhat lackluster

Most probably saw this horribe news :(

"Esquadrilha da Fumaca fatal crash - (aerobaticteams.net)03.Apr.2010

One of the Smoke Squadron's pilots Capitan Anderson Amaro Fernandes flying on #2 T-27 Tucano aircraft died after crash on ground performing solo maneuver during airshow at Lages, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The accident occurred at 17'20 o'clock after 20 minutes of demonstration, when he performs a two rolls following of half down loop. He didn't succeed to pull the plane on time and smashed to the ground aside of the runaway. It is definitely the pilot mistake, because he starts the half down loop too low with no enough altitude. The other six planes landed safely and none of the public was injured. (Thanks to Wagner Nascimento)"

A video of the horrible crash:

Well in the light of the continuing arms race with China... Though I`m more willing to put my bet on the Big dragon winning that race.
