pallfy Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) I noticed there are minor stutters when I make a little single player mission with a few tanks and soldiers on the Caucasus map. i7-4790 16gb ram 3gb 1060 500gb SSD Nothing is getting maxed out. -CPU and RAM are underused. -GPU is always around 90% -GPU dedicated memory hovers around 2.8gb/3gb -GPU shared memory is about 1.5gb/8gb Maybe some small occasional stutters are just apart of the game. Svsmokey Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 I had quite good results using a 3gb 1060 at 1080p , with fairly high settings , singleplayer . I suspect that the cpu might be impacted by the tanks and soldiers , unless they are static objects . CPU load figures are not to be trusted , due to DCS' reliance on a single core , and windows swapping that core at a rate higher than our monitoring can sample . If you are using TrackIr , you will want to lock 60 hz , and adjust settings to maintain it to prevent micro-stuttering . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
pallfy Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 I tried low settings no stutters. I did more testing and beleive preload raduis and visibility is the culprit. Does this require a new gpu with more vram? IM on the fence, I can turn those down for recording most shots.
Svsmokey Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 As i understand it , preload radius is tied to system ram . Visibility range would impact both the cpu and gpu . When running 1080p , i upgraded to a 1070 prepping for VR . The differences i noted were that i could add 1.5x ssaa in addition to the previously used 2x msaa . This all but eliminated shimmering . The other thing i noticed was that the sensation of flight was better , due i think to improved frame times as opposed to frame rates , this with a locked 60 hz . I do not recall enabling or upping any other settings relative to the two gpus in 1080p . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
