Raised_Dead85 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I sea bagged my COUGAR HOTAS as original box and materials well i opened it up today and it was smashed. The joystick is okay but my Throttel is all jacked up (unusable). So my question to you, should i get new COUGAR HOTAS or should i get the X52Pro? |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
SilverOne Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 unless your willing to invest more in a mod ... i'd get the x52pro the hotas cougar sucks without any mods, and yes i have used both joysticks, the only good thing i miss about teh cougar is the "cold " feeling when i was about to fly... metal is sh*t and buttons are nothing more, it's feels like they're going to popout of the joystick, the throttle feeling is ridiculoes, even my CH yoke had a smoother throttle.... i also got saitek ruders which are really good too.. btw don't forget VTB have modded cougars , and they're sponsored by thrustmaster...................... Raised_Dead85 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Thank you SilverOne! :) |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
SilverOne Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 np... also mode's of the x52 are amaizing ... really, you get alot of switches to do whatever you want to, i have throwed my keyboard away, thing that i didn't with the cougar. i can switch an radar on / thermal on, button to a flaps / gear button. another problem with the STOCK cougar i had is that the "space" that the joystick moves on the hotas cougar much much smaller than the x52 pro ... oh and btw, x52 PRO is waaaaay light ;) you'll certainly miss the hardness of the cougar, but once you get used to it it's no problem. here's a good link for you http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=23729&page=12 [-]SilverOne[-] [- Best Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Trust Me - If you're serious about Flying, ie In the Air at least once a day and it's prolonged precision you're after, get a Cougar Hotas, alternatively CH Products. I have my Cougar now for going on a year, Unmodded and not a Single Issue at all, and that is after going through a Saitek X52 and Saitek X52 PRO, which both found their way back to the Factory in Double-Quick time. As said, if you're a casual gamer then the Saitek is Fine - If you wanna crank it up a notch then the CH Products or Cougar is a must. SilverOne Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 owell the pod collecting dust problem is a known issue, i'd order afew extra pods. btw saitek ruders are better than CH, atleast from what i've read about other ppl's experience. i'd read the whole thread i've used some CH products and they feel like toys, but i they weren't mine ... 15 mins experience and i hated it.. i think it was an f16 ? stick. Raised_Dead85 Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 I do love the Cougar HOTAS. I did experience some things going out on it like the radar knob where it has a center click so that you can find the center but over time that click disapeared and i had to find my way to center it which it was off all the time. Another thing was the Throttle, I dont know if it was suppose to have that on it or not. But the throttle of the COUGAR had a two hard clicks when you move it up and back. |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
