Luft Waffel Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Hi I'm wondering about the Backup UHF radio panel on the left side of the cockpit. Is this another radio or are these just backup controls in case the ICP or DED fails? Also I couldn't find any control in the controls menu for a transmit switch for the backup UHF so is it like a receive only radio or is it just the same radio as the COMM 1 UHF radio and therefore uses the COMM 1 transmit switch? Could somebody clear this up?
Luft Waffel Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 Also if it is controls for the same UHF radio as COMM 1 on the DED then how do I tell the plane I want to use the backup controls instead of the main DED controls?
QuiGon Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 There's a knob on the left hand side to switch from DED control to manual Backup control for this radio. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
purpi Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 A question about the viper's vhf radio, how do you change AM / FM modulation?
Frederf Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Set C&I knob to BUP and the COM1 backup control panel will function. The transmit button is the same. COM2 is similar and will function if C&I is BUP but it will not be possible to change the radio frequency. It's not another radio, but just a backup interface unit for the radio in the avionics bay.
