A2597 Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) Edit: Here is what I've come up with thus far as a "Get started in VR flight" guide. It's geared more towards civilian flight at this time as that's what my dad and his friends are mostly interested in, but I may update it in the figure for DCS. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j0Ia_1yEyvTgktqzk5qalG55QqPMImaWOv4tegk4TzE/edit?usp=sharing Thoughts? Original Post: So I always build my own rigs, just the way I do it. Pre-built is more costly, may not be as good of a configuration as if I did it myself, etc etc. BUT, I got my dad into flying in VR, and now a few of his friends are wanting to do the same. Cost is a secondary concern. I know almost nothing about prebuilts, really only know of Alienware and ROG, but know there's got to be other (better?) options out there. I'm out of state, so building them PC's is kinda out, need this to be something they can just order, or maybe configure and order. Also don't expect them to have a great deal of technical know how to build it. Need it as close to plug and play as possible. I'm thinking I'll be recommending Oculus Rift S, but that's partly because I've had zero experience with other options, and because my dad has Oculus so he's familiar with it as well. It really just needs to be as close to plug and play as possible for DCS and XPlane. (It's only going to be used for flight sims in VR) Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks! BitMaster Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Start here, that's what I would do if money is really secondary. And yes, you pay A LOT more than building it yourself or have it put together in a local store of your trust. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-desktop-computers/sr/desktops/alienware-desktops/9th-gen-intel-core?appliedRefinements=18410,1375,13205 dont forget the premium plus 5y support... it really pays if something goes wrong.
