imacken Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Just got my WarBRD base, but I'm not totally sure how to set it up. There are no instructions and bags of springs and cams. I noticed some software on the Virpil site, but not sure what to do with it or if it is necessary! Any initial help appreciated. imacken Posted October 21, 2019 Author Posted October 21, 2019 Thanks for that. However, I don’t see anything about setting up the WarBRD base hardware in your good looking tutorials. I muddled through the software after finding a well hidden user manual on the Virpil site, but I think it’s a pretty poor show that a £200+ piece of hardware has nothing in the box explaining what the springs and cams that are supplied are for or how to install them. So, after thinking that the default springs were way too loose, I presumed that the other springs supplied would be stronger. I found a video on the Virpil site that made changing the springs look like a 2 minute job. Well, how wrong was that. Changing the springs was a complete pain in the a**! Don’t want to even think about changing the cams. I will test out the base tomorrow in DCS, but for tonight, I’m going to have myself a well earned beer or two! HC_Official Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 this covers the CM2 base and a grip the only difference between warbrd and CM2 base in the virpil software is which one you pick in the profile drop down tab which grip are you using ? imacken Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 Thanks, I am using the Hornet and Warthog grips. Having tried out the base, I am extremely impressed! It is chalk and cheese compared to the Warthog base. However, my points re setup still stand. I find it crazy that I had to hunt around for info on this. I mean, how would anyone even know that the VPC software even existed or was necessary? Without this, a user could have spent wasted time trying to figure out why his Hornet stick wasn't working with the WarBRD. No indication that a firmware update was necessary, and the device is recognised by Windows without using the Virpil software. There was not even a sheet of paper in the box pointing to a web link, far less any kind of install intructions. Nothing! I still don't know what the supplied additional cams are for, and it was only by trial and error that I worked out the spring situation. imacken Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 you should have received a sheet in the box giving you a quick start guide along with a link of where to download the virpil software Ah OK. No, there was absolutely nothing in the box at all. What are the supplied cams for? Nightstalker Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 If you watch HC's video on the Cam change it explains what the difference is. Basically you will get a different feel of tension as you move away from center. The Cosmo cams are more for space sims.
HC_Official Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 (edited) the CAM inserted are aviasim soft centre CAMS, (non linear response - more force required further away from centre they move) = mimicks non fly by wire aircraft second set are aviasim no centre, same as above but to centre bump to move out from Edited October 22, 2019 by HC_Official No more pre-orders Click here for tutorials for using Virpil Hardware and Software Click here for Virpil Flight equipment dimensions and pictures. .
