  1. It's been delayed since November. I think we've been more then patient. Every 6 weeks we get another DCS update and every 6 weeks we get another let down for Sinai. This makes me not want to invest in maps.
  2. It was supposed to be out before Christmas, now 2 months later still nothing.
  3. I thought we were promised a large update in the December beta patch for Sinai???? Just read the patch notes and NOTHING for the Sinai map. How can we have no patches after all this time?
  4. Thanks YoYo. I'm an idiot in too much of a hurry to update and play. I copied the launcher from the regular bin file instead of the bin-mt folder. As soon as I saw your reply I realized what I did. Lol. Thanks again it's working again.
  5. Do we still need to launch MT from the bin file as a seperate launcher? After the last patch yesterday I can no longer launch from the bin file it will only crash. I've done a repair and nothing fixes it.
  6. This is very noticeable on the Suez Canal as well which I mentioned in another thread. Glad to hear they will look to improve it.
  7. Just to be clear, I'm only complaining about the Canal area of the map. Most of the rest of the map I've explored looks drop dead gorgeous! Thanks for the reply.
  8. So, I would like to say great job to the devs on their first map. I've enjoyed flying around exploring things these last couple of days. The pros of this map: Very nice job on the cities, buildings, ports etc. The performance is fantastic! In 2k with all of the graphic options maxed out I'm sitting around 180 fps over much of the map unless over a dense city where I still stay above 130. Great job! The negatives so far: Not impressed with the Suez Canal. I hope this is just an early access issue. The canal has literally no water masking or elevation changes. It looks very cookie cutter. I love flying around this area of the world in other flight sims as the color changes in this area are immense. I'm noticing only a few color variations when I fly along the canal which is not realistic at all. I took a flight down the canal this morning in DCS and then took the exact same flight down the canal in MSFS. It was staggering how much more detailed MSFS looked in the same area. So much more color variation, elevations along the canal and beautiful colors of water masking all along the canal. Of course the had crafted buildings and ports are much better in DCS but the ground texturing is very generic right now. Again, I hope to see this all improved in the future. Again, my congrats to the devs on their launch and I look forward to exploring this map for some time to come.
  9. To be honest, I don't blame Razbam, I blame ED. They are the only ones to blame for this and it's actually quite easy to rectify. First off, I don't care about launch dates. I'd rather the module be in good state before release more than just getting it as soon as possible. This month, next month, next year, whatever. What I don't like is the process for pre-purchase. I'm not against pre-purchase as a whole, I'm just against the way ED does it. I basically never purchase modules until the release date is pretty much assured. The pre-order price is the same the day before launch as 4 months before launch. What I noticed with this module is that there has been a lot more "soon", imminent etc. passed about not to mention tweets alluding to impending release. I broke my own rule and pre-purchased last month because I THOUGHT by the tweets that the launch was actually IMMINENT. Silly me. Here's an idea for Eagle Dynamics. How about you don't launch pre-orders until the module is ACTUALLY ready for launch, meaning beta tested and given the green light to release. A Friday news letter would come out saying: "We are pleased to announce that the much anticipated (insert module} has been in the beta testing phase with us for the last 10 weeks and we are pleased to announce that (insert 3rd party) has been given the permission to launch. As of today we will be offering a pre-purchase discount which will last until (insert date) at which time it will change to an E/A discount. We hope you enjoy the YouTube videos about to be coming your way as we await launch day (insert official date). End of problems. The only thing that should cause a minor delay of a couple of days would be on ED's side if there was a beta patch issue not a module issue. It ends all complaints about changing dates/ no dates/ taking money months in advance etc. Just a thought. I think it's more fair for the customers and especially the ones who are willing to slap down their credit card early.
  10. I agree. I was somewhat skeptical on how much of a difference there would be but this looks absolutely fantastic and runs smooth as butter. Hats off Ugra!
  11. I really wish ED would stop using the word "imminent" in their news letters when they don't really mean imminent. The last time we heard imminent was for the F15 before Christmas and look how long we are actually waiting.
  12. I ended up deciding on the 4080 over the 4090 due to 2k only and no VR. I’m glad for myself that I saved the money for other things. My FPS has skyrocketed between the 4080 and the MT patch, hitting 175 or more fps at times and rarely dropping below 95 around AI. I think I’m set for awhile.
  13. Well, I have to say bravo! I started off by hopping in the AH64 instant action mission in Syria hot on the ramp. This is usually very punishing as there is a plane on fire right near the ramp. I now was sitting at about 98fps with no affect from the fire...lol. I also ran the DCS World Tomcat Torture Test mission. When you would fly past the explosions the fps would drop down into the 40's and now it dropped to a low of 95. I wouldn't even notice a drop. What a difference! My system is an i913900k, z750e, 32g DDR5, Panasonic 980 Pro SSD and a 4080. I've notice a longer loading time for some missions though. Bring on the F15.
  14. I don't have any immediate intention of getting into VR (never say never) but I am considering getting an ultrawide 2k monitor. I'm hesitant to go 4k because I don't want to start chasing FPS again. I almost went for the 4070ti, as it is gives the same performance as a 3090ti in 2k and it might give me enough breathing room for an ultrawide. My constant hang up is, buy the 4090 and be done with it along with future proofing for ultrawide or VR, or buy a 4070ti for half the price and be more ok with changing it again in 2 yrs for a 5070ti? The 4080 seems like the ugly step sister nobody really wants. I'm fortunate to be able to afford the 4090 but that doesn't mean I'm not wasting money with massive overkill for almost all games when playing in 2k. If the 4090 doesn't improve my overall FPS in DCS and MSFS in 2k I may just be throwing money away.
  15. I upgraded my old system in January form an Intel i7 9700k, 32g DDR4 and a 2080ti to an i9 13900k, 32g DDR 5 and kept my 2080ti in hopes that card prices would settle. As of now, I'm not sure I'm going to upgrade the 2080ti anytime soon. The biggest difference I have ever seen to my performance came for that new 13th gen chip. The problem with buying a new 4080 or 4090 which was my plan is that I'm seeing very little difference in performance in benchmarks I'm watching of those cards over my 2080ti in flight sims. I'm running the sim in 2k with SMAA with all the candy turned on and it runs smooth as butter. I've now tested my present system using the torture test mission available for DCS and I'm seeing very similar frame rates to the videos testing 40 series cards if not better in some cases due to the fact I'm running the new chip and they are not. They have a 4080 or 4090 and I have a 2080ti but my 13th gen chip is doing almost all of the work. I recently watched a benchmark video which compared the 2080ti vs 3080ti vs 4080 vs 4090. The test showed MSFS 2020 (also CPU limited) in 2k Ultra settings. The AVERAGE FPS was surprisingly as follows: RTX 4090 - 53, RTX 4080 - 53, RTX - 3080ti - 52 and finally RTX 2080ti - 50. There is virtually no difference in performance between all of these cards due to the sims being CPU bound. This is an obvious issue that ED is trying to fix with the core updates. From what I've seen though DLSS 2 is going to do next to nothing. DLSS 3 is where the performance gains are and they are the reason to have a 40 series card. I would spend more time thinking about the chip decision over the card decision right now. I've seen tests where the present 3d chips are definitely bottlenecking the 40 series cards. It has been startling seeing how little difference the new cards make for sims other than power draw. They do wonders for everything else but if I'm only going to gain 3fps for a 2 thousand dollar investment in sim games I have to take a pause.
  16. Hey blewis, I don't know if you have done your upgrade yet but I will give you my experience as of late. I upgraded my old system in January form an Intel i7 9700k, 32g DDR4 and a 2080ti to an i9 13900k, 32g DDR 5 and kept my 2080ti in hopes that card prices would settle. 17. I'm having no issues with the sim other than when I launch the AH64 in that one instant action mission on the Syrian map. I have no issues flying other modules on the Syrian map and I have no issues flying the AH64 on other maps. It's only when the two are combined on that one mission that everything begins to lock up. I get a white screen when the mission first loads, then the white screen goes away and my FPS drops to 10fps and everything stutters, stutters, stutters. If I end the mission it will take minutes to log out and my whole system will be slow requiring a reboot. As I said, I can't recreate this is any other mission or with any other plane or helicopter. I have nothing in my mods folder and I've run repair. My video drivers are the latest one.
  18. Here's the dcs.log. There doesn't seem to be an updated dxdiag report Here is the file. Thanks dxdiag.txt

  20. Every time I try to do the instant action Hot Start on runway mission with the AH64 on the Syrian map the sim will go into spaz mode. The screen will go white and then the frame rate will drop to 10fps and everything will lockup. If I try to exit the sim it will lock up my whole system up for several minutes. I've removed all mods and I've run DCS repair along with removing all shaders from the two files FXO and Metashaders. 2080ti, 9700k, 32g ram, SSD and G-sync monitor.
  21. After some testing, it seems that my performance problems are only happening on the Syria map. If I load up in any of the other maps the AH performs like my other modules but each time I return to a instant action mission in Syria everything goes to crap.
  22. That was the first thing I did. It made no difference this time around.
  23. I love the helicopter but unfortunately for me I'm getting really bad stutter and performance issues. My modules are typically running between 80 - 120 fps. In the AH64 I'm getting as low as 20. I'm not sure if the problem is with the module or with the update to the Syria map but if I load up an instant action mission in Syria the helicopter will stutter, stutter, stutter and be uncontrollable. I've removed all mods and liveries out of the folders and I've wiped all of the shaders. It makes no difference.
  24. Didn't they say that it would release along with the new Syrian map expansion? Just because the Apache may be ready the map may not.
