Tchalla Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Can't find anything in previous topics, did they change the pitch characteristics when flaps are added? Seems like when you are at high or low speed the pitch up and down authority is reduced since 2 updates ago.
bbrz Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 How (and why) do you extend the trailing edge flaps manually? The ~50% reduced pitch and roll authority due to the extended gear (which is incorrect since it should depend on the gear lever position) is there since the first release version. i7-7700K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 1070
Stubbies2003 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 How do you extend the trailing edge flaps manually? Flight Control Panel (back left) Alt Flaps switch to Extend. Why do you extend the trailing edge flaps manually? Landing Gear failure to extend for whatever reason to assure you are getting the flaps down for lower stall speed in case you have to land with gear up.

Thanx for the info. But this only applies if there's no approach end arrestment is available. The FLCS takeoff and landing gains are in this case correct since the triggers are: landing gear lever DN alternate flap switch EXTEND air refuel switch OPEN Edited October 23, 2019 by bbrz i7-7700K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 1070

Landing Gear failure to extend for whatever reason to assure you are getting the flaps down for lower stall speed in case you have to land with gear up. To be exact...with gear HANDLE up. When the handle is down the Flaps will come down.

Just land gear up, and if the handle remains up you have to select ALT flaps.
bbrz Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 If all gears do not come down an approach end arrestment is not recommended. Just land gear up, and if the handle remains up you have to select ALT flaps. Just re-read the procedure and you are of course correct. i7-7700K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 1070
Tchalla Posted October 23, 2019 Author Posted October 23, 2019 (edited) No other reason other than what's been said above. But the real fun begins when you lock the leading edge flaps with malfunction.. noticed the damage model has included instability with them missing. Edited October 23, 2019 by T'challa

Well asymmetry brakes "should" handle that for you automatically if it is a really bad malfunction but yeah if something happens to the LE Flaps best to lock them out and just deal with whatever position they are in less it gets worse.
