GoosemanF7 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Hi all, in the keybinds the paddle switch (on the stick) has a description saying something with elastic limit. Can this be used to exceed the g-limit by holding the paddle switch during maneuvering similar to the paddle switch in the F/A-18?
myHelljumper Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Yes, you then go to the hard limit. But it's not exactly like the F-18, in A/A mode you will be able to command 11G IIRC, and no risks of breaking the plane. In charge mode, I think you could rip off your tanks and AG stores. It's in the manual somewhere. Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA

So in A/A fly-by-wire mode the paddle switch will not make a difference while in A/G fly-by-wire mode the paddle switch will change the limit to A/A-mode temporarily Right?

In A/A mode, the elastic limit will give you 9G, if you press the exceed elastic limit button, the stick will go to the hard limit and give you 11G. In A/G mode the elastic limit will give you less than 9G (I don't remember how much), and the hard limit will give you more (I don't remember either), but you risk ripping your AG ordinance and/or tanks if you use it. Is it better ? Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
jojo Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) First, in the real aircraft it isn't a switch. You just pull harder. There is a "wall", and you can override it. In AA you have 9G limit and 29° AoA limit. With the paddle you can override both limit and it will give roughly 11G (if you have the speed) or 31° AoA. In AG you have 6G limit, but the AoA limit enforced by the system is still the same 29°AoA. But heavy loads create aft balancing. So the pilot must stay below 20° manually. You may stall the aircraft badly with bombs on aft fuselage points or filled wing tanks. You may have auto pitch-up, and the control surfaces won't have enough nose down authority to counter it. jojo Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Ohhhh, I have to test that :). :D In AA configuration (provided that central bag is empty or nearly) the Mirage is idiot proof. But heavily loaded that's another story. The more loaded it is, the more unstable it is :smilewink: Mirage fanatic ! GoosemanF7 Posted October 25, 2019 Author Posted October 25, 2019 Awesome! Thanks for the detailed infos! Have to test all of that!
