Do slats have any effect on the flight model? I tried to extend them in air at M0.87, I did not see any change in AoA, Pitch, Drag . When I retracted them, nothing happened either. (I actually saw a minimalistic jump of the two "<" upwards when the slats were extended. They went down when I retracted them)

Any insight on this?

Another instance: I was on approach and the brackets were aligned with the FPM. When I extended the Slats, the brackets jumped up, when i retracted them, the brackets got back to the FPM.

Am I missing something here? Shouldn't extended slat increase drag instead of decrease it?

The sealed SLATS on the Mirage 2000 create vortexes which re-energize the flow over the wing and actually decrease drag (delta wing).

this is why the SLATS are forced to retract when landing gear is down. The wing is used as "air brake", SLATS out would make too flat approach.

Yet you can use it if your engine suffers from power loss.

At least, this is intended use.
