Hey,

For the past few months I have had this issue in the ME where it freezes up and becomes unresponsive to all input. If I click on the map it will display the ground elevation otherwise it remains static. If I click on a unit the window shows up to the right but disappears when I click on it. The only way to recover is to end DCS in the task manager. I have tried repairing my install of DCS but no luck.

This issue occurs within 5 minutes of using the ME and the only way I have of working with it is to make a single change then launch the sim and repeat.

So far I have moved and cleaned, repaired the install, updated all the drivers, toggled all the mods off and its still happening.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, as I am at a loss.

Right now I am updating it from the Open Beta to the Release version and hope that fixes it.

Thanks!

Ben

Log attached is still showing signs of unofficial MODS (VPC) in the tech folder, so was this before you did the cleanup and repair, if not the issue is not resolved, bearing in mind if MODS are stored in your "saved games" folder as they are shown here, no cleanup with DCS will fix them as it only works on the main games installed file structures, you will have to manually delete them from these directories.

Exert of DCS.LOG:

To test:

  1. Rename and backup your complete C:\Users\Vincent Proxy\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\ directory and let DCS recreate a default one, run DCS and see if problem resolved, if so slowly introduce settings from old backup you just made previously. Alternatively remove the sub directories under the TECH Folder that don't belong there (Applied MODS).
  2. Recommend you change your windows pagefile size to match a minimum size of your physical RAM (24390 or higher) as what is showing is way to low.

2019-12-06 04:51:17.508 INFO DCS: CPU cores: 4, threads: 4, System RAM: 24390 MB, Pagefile: 3584 MB

Thanks Ian!

I didn't realize about the pagefile, I have made a new saved games folder and it still freezes!

I found some shortcuts, so I can hit CTRL+S to save and then CTRL+O to re open the mission which seems to wake it up again, which is a lot better than having to end task and restart.
