Belphe Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I know that there are more important things on the "to do" list and by no means I'm not trying to change the order but I was just curious if switching the aircraft off was still work in progress. All I mean by that is the engine sounds that vanish in seconds and the elevators that.. don't drop with the hydraulics off. IIRC the former is to do with the amount of sounds DCS can use per aircraft (?) but the latter is simply an animation that needs adding. I have seen numerous photos of cold Tomcats parked with their elevators down giving them a cool look :P That's all :D Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RustBelt Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 They do that because the stick is pushed forward for ease of ingress and egress. Remember the F-14 is a hydraulically boosted conventional control system. Only the Spoilers and speed brake are 100% electrically actuated hydraulic. So with a spring centered joystick it's acting as it should, which is to say, staying where the joystick is positioned.

So, the elevators are down when plane is cold only because the pilot pushed the stick forward to get out? Wouldn't the weight of the elevators and the fact that their axles are further to the front from their center of mass make them fall down anyway? Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
