The location of Bullseye and TDC on the attack radar

The Hoggit discussion of the Attack Radar has a diagram of the radar which is attached to this message.

 

 

 

It labels items 17-19 as follows:

 

 

17. A/A Waypoint-TDC BRA - Bearing and range from the A/A waypoint to the TDC cursor.

18. Aircraft-TDC BRA - Bearing and range from the aircraft to the TDC cursor.

19. A/A Waypoint-Aircraft BRA - Bearing and range from the A/A waypoint to the aircraft

 

I understand 18 but have a question/confusion and 17 and 19.

It seems to me that 17 should be from Bull to my aircraft and not from Bull to the TDC.

For 19, I thought this was from Bull to the TDC and not from Bull to my aircraft.

My interpretation is based on the most recent video by the Grim Reapers.

Please clarify my confusion. Thanks.

Your interpretation is correct. 17 is the BRA from Bulls to your aircraft, I remember this by way of its position at the bottom of the radar page corresponds with where your radar (and therefore your aircraft) is relative to the scope. 19 is Bulls to TDC. They look similar because the range from Bulls to you is almost the same as Bulls to TDC, just at a different angle. If you make a triangle between the 3 points and compare the angles and ranges (and perform a little bit of trigonometry) it all lines up.

Thanks very much, I'm glad you like it. Very sorry to hear this caused such confusion for you, I had actually edited that section just the other day and I never noticed that got messed up; so again, thanks a lot for pointing it out.
