av8r13 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 i am having an interesting issue when engaging autopilot in any mode. most of the time when i engage any mode, nothing happens until i hit the paddle (A/P disengage) a couple of times first. not a big deal but i do sometimes have issues getting it to engage. not sure if this is a bug or an issue with my thrustmaster warthog
Swift. Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 The autopilot in hornet is very picky about how centred the stick is when it engages. If your stick isn't 100% perfectly calibrated then it will take a bit of a stick wiggle for it to detect the 'centre'. It's possible your hitting of the paddle is knocking the stick into the centre and engaging the ap 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2

betatrash Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 (edited) Not related to the F/A-18, but Autopilot is questionable in some FC3 aircraft, so it may just be busted. See [bugs] FC3: Autopilot + Trimmer control issues: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4149441 As mentioned already, set a Deadzone. Gamepads require 5-10 due to loose sticks, maybe less for more stable sticks. Some aircraft will disengage autopilot after 5-15 degrees of pitch/yaw, others won't. Setting a curvature also helps to prevent tripping the threshold of 5 degrees. In terms of modes, I can only tell you what works in FC3: A-10A engage by hitting correct mode button and Engage/Disengage. Disengage with Engage/Disengage. For other aircraft, just hit the correct mode button directly, ignore Autopilot (engage) hotkey. Disengage with Reset Autopilot. Edited December 23, 2019 by betatrash
