is there a way i can toggle the radar between active and silent from the pilots seat without going through the jester menu??

No. Only jester can do that.

You can get a human rio tho. They are much more competent than jester most of the time.

You can program a macro on a joystick or voice attack etc.

 

to go through jester menus? iv tried vocie attack multiple times and never got it to work properly

If you're having trouble with voive attack, chances are, you didn't train your computer how to listen to your voice. There's an option in windows (which you can also access via voice attack) to train your computer. It will give you a bunch of text to read out loud. This will allow the pc to be much more accurate when listening to your voice. It "gets used to it"

 

Another thing that might be happening, is you're saying wrong commands. I do that sometimes with my voice attack, where i'll say "jester, give me flare" instead of flares, and VA doesnt pick it up as a command.

 

TL;DR, i think voice attack is by far best way to talk to jester, and you should give it another shot. It's worth it.
