I only enter multi player servers with pings less than 100 on the server listings board. My ping to whatever location the “ping test” connects to is 33ms.

Today while pursuing an opponent they were rubber banding and zipping all over Gods creation. In the crosshairs, oops, on wing, nope over canopy now back to the crosshairs ect.

How do I know if its me or the opponent that is lagging and trashing the scenario? If its me, I want to find a fix.

Thanks

If your ping to most US based servers is 33ms or below, assume it is not you.

Likely it is caused by something else you cannot fix on your side, unless it's module or mod bound and you use that specific trouble maker.

What is the minimum internet speed for flying DCS in VR? Can wireless support it, or do you need to be hardwired into the net?

It doesnt need much, a few Mbit should be sufficient.

WLAN works as long as you have a stable connection and do not introduce too much lag.

I have run DCS MP over a Repeater for like 2 years without any issues. If your devices are not outdated ( like "g" 54Mbit ) it should work. Any proper "n" or later is well capable for gaming.

If you can ping 8.8.8.8 ( Google DNS ) for several hours without loss it should be ok.

One thing that older WLAN topologies do not like is many Smartphones and Tablets coming and going. Mind that. You would need MU-MIMO to counter that but it only comes with fairly new devices.

Multiple Users --Multi_IN-Multi-OUT. There is also MIMO without MU, that is faster than without but it lacks the "Multiple Users/Devices" part.

If at all possible, use a cable. Wifi is getting better, but one misconfiguration and you're screwed. Turning on "compatibility mode" for older wifi standards can dramatically slow you down.

Also, it's a shared medium so someone watching video will more adversely affect you by having to share the airspace.
