Wolf359 Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Is 144hz overkill? Looking at two curved screens; one is 75hz and the other 144hz, on a tight budget. RustBelt Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Get whichever is bigger. Speeds that high are more a concern for VR not a screen.
Bob_Bushman Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Higher framerate is better, and not just for vr. Simply put the 75hz monitor presents a new frame every 13.3ms, the 144hz screen every 6.9ms meaning smoother motion that in turn gives your brain more data allowing for better and more correct reflexes. i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1 Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle.

Ehhhhh.. Just seeing the same image 3-4 times in a row isn't really helping anything. If you can't push 144FPS from the video card, you're just showing the same frame over again until the screen buffer refreshes. Also the response time has to be fast enough for 144Hz otherwise it's just market gimmick that the screen COULD fo 144Hz.
