Vitor_Hugo Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I can't communicate with my Flight in the F16 missions, see the picture. I have the 127.00 frequence on COM2 and use the RCtrl+/ Without communicate with them they don't do nothing  Edited February 9, 2020 by vhsousa [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Looks like "Auto" means easy comms which can be all sorts of problems. Without easy comms the title of the F1-F12 menu will be AN/ARC- and so on for that particular radio or "Main" if hot mic'ing. Usually in DCS the own flight comms are UHF although they can be changed. It would be helpful to open up the mission in the editor and review what is the assigned flight frequency for your flight group.
Harker Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Agree with Frederf, see if you have Easy Comms enabled in the Options and if so, disable it. It harms more than it helps, a lot of times. Then, you'll be able to use the full functionality of the radios. If you successfully transmit, the corresponding ratio (UHF, VHF) on the DED will be highlighted. I also suggest that you bind the radio buttons to more convenient keys or to your HOTAS, if you can/want, but that's up to personal preference. Vitor_Hugo Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 Thanks guys This happens in the Single Missions that came with the F-16 (like the "Overwhelming Force") Already open it and save it with and without easy comms. The only way to get around this is in the Gamelpay options: It's strange, but if I Enable "Easy Communication" I can't select the flight comms. If why disable "Easy Communication" I can communicate with my flight trought RCtrl+\, but I also can communicate with everyone without changing frequences, witch I like doing. A friend told me that the F-16 Missions are buggy, I'll try other missions to see [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Harker Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 By the way, have you tried to communicate through the default comm menu, accessible with \ , with Easy Comms enabled? That might work and it's worth a shot. The issue might be that you're using Easy Comms, but still try to go through the aircraft's radios. If you disable Easy Comms, you'll have to select the correct frequency/channel on the radios, but at least you'll be able to use them properly. The F-16 is Early Access, so a lot of components are WIP, but the comms work pretty well, in my experience. But yes, try with other modules as well, just keep in mind that you'll likely run into the same issue, with Easy Comms. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Vitor_Hugo Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 By the way, have you tried to communicate through the default comm menu, accessible with \ , with Easy Comms enabled? Yeap I've tried a lot of ways, and and different Single Missions Strangely as it seems my "Easy communications" on the Gameplay options does the opposite If I enable it I get the grey menus and have to choose the right channel on the plane, and have to use different commands to UHF and VHF (like it suposed to be) If I disable it every menu goes white and I don't have to set the radio frequence on the plane (well it depends in what the mission alow because I didn´t had any that use VHF with "my flight", only UHF) I guess those F-16 single missions that came with the F-16 are really bugged Thanks for your help guys [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Goose_ Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 When you see "AUTO" displayed, the Viper will automatically switch frequencies, but using the first radio, which is only UHF... I already had this problem while trying to contact a tanker. What you need to do is to switch your UHF radio to OFF, so the "AUTO" will be able to switch to 127.00 as the only radio remaining is the VHF.

That's it Goose, thanks Only if I turn the Comm1 knob Off I can get VHF to work But... Is it supposed to be like that? Shouldn't the talk buttons to UHF and VHF work properly? . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
randomTOTEN Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 It makes sense that easy communications just auto-tunes COM1. Seems like a mission design issue then. If in the F-16C COM1 is UHF, and the mission is designed for easy comms, all frequencies which the player would want to tune should be available as UHF.
Frederf Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Easy comms should not do that. It should compare the frequency with the known radios on board and pick the first available radio which can handle it. That's how it's always worked.
