Estocade Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Hi I'm looking for some detailed scenarios/strategy for big air battles for the 1980+ time period? I've tried google and others but I can't find any. Thx!
Kula66 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 TryRed Storm Rising by Tom Clancy ... fiction, but got some good battles in - and a good read! James

The big air battle between the Soviet bomber fleet and the U.S. naval group is probably one of the most well written and detailed explanations of how something like this might happen that I have ever read. I had to read it twice because it was so good. :)
Kula66 Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Yes, I've always hoped that ED would one day produce a Barents Sea version of LockOn ... Backfires v F-14/18 from carriers, F-15s from Iceland ... great setting for a Naval Expansion ... sorry, dreaming again!! James

I've done a Keflavik F-15 skin (tail) some time ago. And I was planning to do some more things for such a scenario. But I don't have much spare time right now :( (I'm still finishing other F-15 tails, like Kadena ZZ, Holloman HO and others) As far as the books, Red Storm Rising has some interesting air battles (were planned with Harpoon boardgame) but there are some other books that cover NATO air ops in high detail: "Fighter Missions", by Bill Gunston and Lindsay Peacock "Air Battle Central Europe", by Alfred Price
